I think you and your friend are both wrong (no disrespect intended).
I take the opinion that I once heard Joe Rogan say;
You'll want to get enough money so you're at the point where you don't have to worry about money. Beyond that, your happiness is going to be rooted in your health, family etc.
Happiness lies in balance. Balancing your work, exercise, family, friends - that sort of thing. If you've got all of them in check, then you're not going to have a problem.
Now, there's no clear set of verified data on which profession has the highest suicide rate, but the general consensus is that medical professionals, lawyers and finance workers are usually ranked pretty highly. All high paying jobs. You might say, 'that's because of stress, not money', but any job in which you're earning a lot of money is going to be very stressful. There's no such thing as easy money.
Conversely, according to Forbes magazine and various others (quick google search will corroborate this), the happiest professions are comparatively low paying. Authors, artists, fire-fighters and teachers all rank in the top 10.
DaNooB23 has the right idea, I think, though I'm not too certain you can throw a number on it like that (I'd have to see the study).

Almost everything in this world is bought by money.
You can buy food with money.
Or you can raise a farm, but even then to buy the animals you need money.
You can buy cloths with money.
Or you can make your own, but you still need to buy supply's.
In general, it's not the money that makes you happy it's the shit you buy.

"Money brings happines"
I would totaly agree with this if you could buy" real love" from someone.
Love is in my opinion the most important in life. Both from parents\ relatives and from girlfriend\boyfriend.

This looks to be her excuse for doing bad, and not trying to achieve higher marks.
It not only makes you happy get good grades and lots of money but it makes your parents and friends happy knowing that your happy.
Plus money makes your quality of life better, and not only that but takes away the stress of having to do 2 or more jobs like she will probably have to.
Also also, I guarantee you in the next 8-10 years she will be asking you for money.

Happiness, not conceived as a psychological contentment, but rather as a whole life well lived...
|
Good fortune (not as in money, but things out of our control) and moral virtue are conditions of living well. In society, we need money to have good living conditions, be able to control more of our lives, and to sustain ourselves.
More money does not = more happiness. More money makes good fortune sustainable, and so we can be happy when good things happen to us, not bad.

Golden handcuffs is an example of why you are wrong.
Working day in and day out, 24/7, no social or love life, no time to use all of the money you earn, but you have a tonne of it.
I know you are young and you have probably listened to your parents and teachers etc. but one day you will realise how empty money is with nobody to share it with.
Money can't make you a better person, it can't make you more creative or more exciting or more lovable.
Yes, money can give you access to the opportunities that cause the sources of excitement in your life to be more abundant and various, but material things last only moments.
Personally, I'd rather wake up every morning from the inside of an old refrigerator box, walk up to the front of a store and look at myself in the glass and say to myself "I want to be that guy" because I am happy with the kind of person I am, rather than stepping out of my limo at the same store and looking past my reflection in the mirror, because I can't stand to look myself in the face, and instead stare at the TV that I can try and fill the void inside of me with.
Just my opinion I guess.

While true that the education is something of a production line, meant to produce workers. It has an interesting side effect of being an opportunity to learn. You and your friend should both want to learn just for that.
Something that really annoys me is "hah I've been out of school for 3 year and havn't used algebra at all!" that is nothing to be proud of :/
I want to live a comfortable and peaceful life, but working is such a bother. It's not so much that money makes me happy, it's more that it's easier to be happy with money, since I get to spend more time doing what I like, and less stress.

To me money doesn't actually buy happiness per say, but it does indeed buy a good feeling for a little bit. As far as the education no offense to your friend she's a bit of a moron to think she can be fine in this world without any type of education. Me, I hope to go to college so. I find it a heiharchy (terrible spelling XD)
Foundation: Life (gotta be born in order to do anything)
1st floor: education
2nd floor: taking care of others and self
3rd floor: making money after you move out
4th floor: Providing for your family
Obvisoly you will have other views but thats what I think the house should consist of...
