<uFantom>: Hello, Tarlan!
<Tarlan>: Hey, yeah.
<uFantom>: What can you tell about yourself from the real life? What do you do, what are your hobbies?
<Tarlan>: Okay, hmm. Schoolboy, lvl 18, studying in physycs/chemistry-oriented classes. Playing guitar and doing other additional things like having shittutors and crapcourses for USE (Russian exam that everyone has to pass to finish school). It's not a hobby but a need, though. As for hobbies - I don't really know, probably nothing.
<Tarlan>: When I was 15 I used to moonlight in a Russian drama theatre as I had graduated from a theatre school with honors some time before that, but nobody cares.
<Tarlan>: Have no idea why did I add this, just want to show off (the diploma etc).
<uFantom>: I think that most our readers would be interested to know who are you irl.
<uFantom>: How did you happen to know about Toribash?
<Tarlan>: Toribash? It's kinda trivial. Was surfing internets looking at funny pics. There was a screenshot from tb and a guy was asking whether someone else was playing it. I downloaded the game, got some friends into it and didn't even notice how got addicted to it.
<uFantom>: And what did you find interesting in Toribash?
<Tarlan>: I liked the idea of a turn-based fighting itself. So like, it has my favourite things mixed: strategy and the beauty of fights. Obviously, I couldn't find out how to move the puppet at first, but after spending days in judo rooms (and from the blue belt - at aikido) I finally managed to do something ;)
<uFantom>: Everything was probably different when you started, wasn't it? Do you miss those times?
<Tarlan>: Arguable question, on the one hand I don't look back to those times when I had bullshit skill (even though it's now not really different), but I miss the community. It seemed that there were much more people and it was great to play and chat with them.
<Tarlan>: And 4bb (Russian forum, toribash.ru predecessor) was way more amusing than 2ch (Russian 4chan) or anything else.
<uFantom>: Yea, that's true. Today there aren't many active players.
<Tarlan>: Indeed.
<Tarlan>: What I miss the most is my first clan - Damned. They took me when I was green yet and knowing almost nothing, taught me, you can even say "nourished". Thanks you for that, guys, I'll never forget that! Around that time, when I was 2nd dan, I started (I don't know why) using IRC and at #rus I met iLLepidus and Nirs. I thought that they're some kind of important guys and was afraid to talk to them as the only thing that I knew about iLLe, for example, was that he organised a competition at 4bb where I won 10k :s
<Tarlan>: As the time passed I was starting to put in my two cents into their discussions and later I somehow made friends with them. We played different smart games, solved puzzles against each other, made fun of Engraze, answered Hepukt4e's quizzes - generally, I was feeling that here was my place.
<Tarlan>: After, I guess, a year in Hack (Where I got invited after a 5-month pickling at [AH], its academy) I started to notice that guys are becoming inactive again.
<uFantom>: At those times it was a dream of many players to get at least to Hack's academy if they weren't accepted to the clan itself.
<uFantom>: How did you manage to do it?
<Tarlan>: Well, I queried Nirs in IRC and told him to add me to [AH]. He answered that he'll talk it through with iLLe and Hep.
<Tarlan>: After like 10 minutes he returns and tells me to wear the tag.
<Tarlan>: Nirs told me a phrase which I remembered forever, that Hack is full of old bones, and I had just started my way in this game so becoming one of them was unacceptable for me.
<Tarlan>: That's how my career of a clan whore started.
<Tarlan>: And yeah, at the time when I was in Hack's academy I started to make my first steps to becoming a Gamekeeper (later GM).
<uFantom>: But you didn't leave the clan after this phrase, right?
<Tarlan>: No, I didn't. But later I did as I was sick of being alone there :<
<Tarlan>: There were lots of clans, but especially I want to mark Gangsters.
<Tarlan>: That's where there have always been amusement and where you're always welcome for a tea.
<Tarlan>: I love you, bitches <3
<uFantom>: Not so long ago Hack united with a new clan [Bro]. Many "oldfags" consider it stupid. What do you feel about it?
<Tarlan>: I've already told everything about this. The only thing that offended me was that when I was offering the same idea, Nirs refused to do anything. Probably he wasn't ready for that, heh. And I also thought that guys from [Bro] got the tag too easily. But later, after I saw that all the imbeciles were weeded out, I changed my opinion.
<Tarlan>: Off topic thing. I once won 500k from Ash at "Guess the song". You had to guess only 1 song, so I shazam'd it and got the easy money, bought no-qi items through BlackSugar and played with a smile from ear to ear :>
<uFantom>: Clear. And how did your tori-career started?
<Tarlan>: Everything started when, still being in Damned, I noticed that almost every clan had a Gamekeeper in it and I badly wanted a tilde. Yeah, just because of that, I won't lie - I never had any grandiose intentions to help the rucomminuty.
<Tarlan>: I was being sponsored by Nirs, later by iLLepidus, and at those times I started to host tournaments.
<Tarlan>: For "portfolio" or something like that xD
<Tarlan>: When some months passed, I managed to show myself in a community as an active hoster with 50+ tourneys. But still, they didn't accept me to GK team.
<Tarlan>: I was terribly annoyed by that sinсe the whole team of them hosted less than I did.
<uFantom>: Didn't they tell you the reason why you weren't accepted?
<Tarlan>: Nope. By the way, at those times I became acquainted with Dargon and he actively supported me morally. Thanks him for that.
<Tarlan>: So.
<Tarlan>: I wanted to be seen as much as possible so that they would finally pick me. I joined Unibash, later Uniteam and Clan Events Team with Clan Graduation.
<Tarlan>: And for some months I forgot that I wanted to become GK.
<Tarlan>: I just got snowed under with other work.
<Tarlan>: GK was reformed to GM and, if my memory isn't wrong, there was a bloggers recruitment.
<Tarlan>: I wrote an awful article with and awful English, but SlipAnc somehow accepted me.
<Tarlan>: My language skills didn't allow me not just to write anything in blog, but even to understand what did Slip want from me.
<uFantom>: As I remember, you were a leader of Uniteam. What were your duties and how did you get that position?
<Tarlan>: Oh, it was pretty easy.
<Tarlan>: "God of shashlik" aka Andrzej quitted the management of Russian Unibash.
<Tarlan>: I replaced him, did stuff and so on.
<Tarlan>: To be honest, I was a leader for only a week or so before Enzu came there.
<Tarlan>: I was made a leader by Tryton if I'm right.
<Tarlan>: Nobody did anything even though I was scolding them every day.
<Tarlan>: And that's why I was hosting everything by myself.
<Tarlan>: Result: Enzu arrived, I finished my 110th tourney and left Uniteam.
<uFantom>: And did you decide to apply for GM after that?
<Tarlan>: Yep. At those times Huck was the GM team's leader, I sent him my application (5th one) and after a week I woke up with %.
<Tarlan>: Clear enough that it wasn't without Korvin's, Sir's and Brey's help.
<Tarlan>: GM duties were so involving for me that I practically ignored all the stuff at CET and Unibash at all.
<Tarlan>: By the way, we later got separated from Unibash and created rubash.
<Tarlan>: I don't really remember whose initiative was that, Andrzej's or Sir's.
<uFantom>: So now you're not a GM but a smod. How did you get so "high"?
<Tarlan>: Dealt with some shit whilst being a GM, did some usual stuff. And here - boom - Sir retires from Smod (he had tactfully became one instead of Korvin).
<Tarlan>: He offered me to take his place and I, surely, agreed. Sent an application and failed.
<Tarlan>: After that there were 2 more applications. And, again, 2 failures.
<uFantom>: But after Sir's leaving the position of a Russian supermoderator wasn't occupied. Up to the moment when he returned back.
<Tarlan>: That's true, Sir is such a delicate nature and he could no longer see my fails and rucommunity doing shit and all its "lawlessness" so he returned.
<Tarlan>: Everything became as it used to be, in general.
<Tarlan>: I've already forgot that I want Smod when Sir left the position again.
<uFantom>: And after Sir's second leaving the administration had no other choice but to make you a Smod, right?
<Tarlan>: Well, that's a difficult question. The reason why I wasn't accepted at first is that I was way too impudent.
<uFantom>: What do you mean?
<Tarlan>: I have almost written something like: "You have no choice: if not me, then nobody".
<uFantom>: Haha, yeah, that was indeed impudent.
<Tarlan>: Surely, I didn't write it, but it was really feeling that it meant so when you were reading it.
<uFantom>: But as we see, it finally worked.
<Tarlan>: Not at all.
<Tarlan>: My last application was completely different from all the previous.
<Tarlan>: It was short and plain. I was keeping it in mind for weeks.
<Tarlan>: There was nothing that could be wrong in it.
<Tarlan>: However, the main factor here was probably not the application, but my activity. Well, I don't know. I cannot praise myself.
<uFantom>: What are you planning to do next in Toribash?
<Tarlan>: Wait a bit, I'll answer in a while, there's a new report *_*
<Tarlan>: Oh shit, it's Portuguese.
<Tarlan>: Okay.
<Tarlan>: What am I planning? To do my work-hobby. There's no "aim" actually.
<Tarlan>: Periodically having fun dealing with stupid people.
<uFantom>: OK. Good luck with your Smod duties then =)
<uFantom>: And the last question.
<uFantom>: As a conclusion, what can you say to our readers?
<uFantom>: And what would you wish to the "Who is Who" project?
<Tarlan>: Hnng. Well, special thanks to all the clans I've been a member of, sorry if someone still doesn't like me, and cheers to everyone who are my friends.
<Tarlan>: What concerns "Who is Who": make interviews a bit longer, like this one. I usually read them while shitting and I finish reading before the climax xD
<uFantom>: Okay =)
<uFantom>: Thank you for an interesting conversation an a good interview.
<Tarlan>: Bye everyone.
