Just to note, I don't have anything against Manga; I enjoy both, but I take a liking to anime more often than I do to Manga.

Let it poop out the anime babies after you watch the BOUNTIFUL glory called Manga, Manga is so fun and great!
Not always.
You do realize that many of the top-rated anime series came from a different source that even the manga version structured upon? Many come from eroges and light novels.

Anyone care to share some Manga that got turned into Mainstream anime?
Because I got a GIANT list prepared if you want
Mainstream Anime =/= Great Anime Series
I know that many anime series which take their roots from manga are good, but most of the anime that came from their drawn counterparts are not that good.
Anime is better than Manga, in my opinion, for the following reasons:
- Voice Actors can portray the emotion, strength, and thoughts of the characters much better than written text can
- Soundtracks that play in the background help GREATLY in reinforcing the effect of a scene
- Art quality tends to surpass their manga counterparts by a longshot. Sometimes the manga version is unique, though (such as TWGOK)
- Animation and timing can create suspense and rush (from the action, if applicable) that turning a physical page or clicking a mouse cannot.
An anime OVA/Movie that fits the list above is 5 Centimeters Per Second.
A few perfect examples of anime series that took its roots from the same source as the manga counterpart and still managed to be worlds better are CLANNAD and Spice and Wolf.
One particular series that recently aired is AnoHana, which has no manga counterpart whatsoever, and has very high ratings.
