If you only want to watch Dragon Ball Z, then yes, around 300 episodes,
however, if you want to start from Dragon Ball (original), then around 500-600 episodes.

I do highly recommend the original Dragon Ball, it's nothing like Z with it's mindless action
and battles, and useless power-levels, it's more about adventure and fantasy.

Dragon Ball > Dragon Ball Z
The past makes you wanna die out of regret, and future makes you depressed out of anxiety. So by elimination, the present is likely the happiest time.
