stereotypes are generalisations based on history and culture.
stereotypes like:
-all white south africans are racist, isnt necesarilly untrue because 15 years ago, all white south africans WERE racist. It was part of our government.
-black people like chicken, isnt necesarilly untrue because chicken is affordable and the majority of the people that lived in the ghetto are black.
-chinese eat dogs, because they DID eat dogs. as well as many other animals not normally clasified as food.

All stereotypes have a basis in truth, although often exxagerated, are hardly racist.
sterotyping is nothing more than studying statistics.
it is true that when dealing with an individual, one needs to treat them as such. but as a whole, stereotypes are usually based in truth.
if there is no basis in truth, then its not a stereotype, its an unfounded accusation.
