I got this idea from the volume thread relating to toribash, but I was wondering if you guys played with sound on your handhelds as kids?

Sure.
I was heavily influenced by the songs in those old games. Loved the ones from Megaman for example.
Still love that old Gameboy sound!

Why yes, you can't play mario and not hear him bounce. It's like going to a candy store with no money.

Of course I used sound! The song on Gamboy were the best especially games like pokemon, mega man, and Golden sun. They were just awesome back then.

Sure. I used to always kill my battery, but I kept my volume up the whole time cause I sucked without music, sounds, etc.

No, just like I am now... I play my own music, whatever I feel suites the occasion and off i go.

In games like Fallout and Oblivion or games with speech in any way at all I tend to keep the voices and speech and get rid of the music, then replace it with my own.

However gameboy's didn't have speech back then, so yeah...

i always used sound, had lots of reserve batteries aswell, but i couldnt play a quiet game, its the same now, it just doesnt work for me.

I never had it without volume.

It had to have volume unless if the game had a bad soundtrack so yea i had it all the time.
