In a few days I'll be boarding at my new school but I still need to get a laptop. The school recommends Mac but I'm only boarding for a year and I already have an iMac. I have an unlimited budget but obviously I'm not going to buy a laptop that's too expensive.

It needs to be light, pretty small and have a long battery life.

At the moment, my first choice would be a MacBook Air but are there any other laptops that I should consider?

If I remember correctly the only laptops that have better battery life than an Air are thinkpads.

If money isn't an issue just stick with the Air. The main drawbacks of buying an Air are that OSX limits what programs you can run (ie very limited gaming, which the Air will suck at anyway), and that it's expensive for the hardware.

If you want to have a look at thinkpads have a look at the T450s or X250

I probably won't play many games on my laptop since I have an iMac already. It's pretty much just for homework. Thanks
