I'm not sure I could convince you, but this just isn't true. Have you seen the ban list? Bigotry is extremely common, especially in online communities. When I played, if I quickly told someone that I don't like being referred to with "he/him", I'd be called a slur more often than not. I've seen a hell of a lot of racism as well.

The reasons may feel nonsensical to you, but as someone who has suffered ill treatment for being trans or jewish both online and out in the world for decades, it's sensical and important to me. The normalization of bigotry has very obvious and serious harmful effects; would you agree?

"Bro", in this instance, was intentional misgendering.
"Cunt", in this instance, was a mean word to use, but it wasn't intentional misgendering. I use it as most of the world uses it, as gender neutral slang. If you'd like me to pick something even more gender appropriate or gender neutral, I'd be amenable.
The person who said the former is a longtime homophobe who has called me a faggot and degenerate in the past.
The person who said the latter is a trans person who has repeatedly shown care for misgendering.
I think the conclusions you draw with that information are quite telling.
