I worked at a Italian based place where closing was better imo. You'd get hit with the Dinner Rush which was chaos for the most part, I'll make a Pros and Cons in spoilers for the positions I held while I was there:
Pros:
- Time would fly by since work was steady and busy
- More hours since closing shift has to prep for tomorrow
- After closing you could take your time with your workload and hang out with servers/cooks after you get done with your station(Dishes/Pans for Dishwashers, Bathrooms/Front/Patio[if in season]/Trash for bussers
- ^^ due to this and management being quite cool you could rack up plenty of OT
Cons:
- It's a dinner rush need I explain more?
- Servers would rag you to get silverware done faster since they need to roll it, if they were dicks that is, most were chill.
- Doing floors sucked since the tile floors were always dirty you'd spend about 30 minutes just scrubbing them each night. Normally whoever was doing dishes would do floors since dish workload is significantly easier end of the night.
Pros:
- Dinner rush = More tips(obviously depending on costumers but Dinner rush you get more of those so sick)
- Time fly's by
- Cooks can't afford to mess up so less orders get taken back due to cooks being on there game during dinner rush.
- Servers with Patio will gladly help you out when needed(unless they were dicks)
Cons:
- More people = More stress at times.
- Less breaks(could be a pro or con depending what kind of person you are).
- Costumers get more agitated from waiting for food.
- Pizza cooks were always slow and asshats.
- A fuck ton of silverware to roll at the end of the night, although you can always throw someone $5 to help you out.
Oh and just in case any1 was going to ask:
2 Dishwashers on Dinner shift, 1 for Lunch
3/4 Bussers for Dinner shift(4 only on Fridays and Saturdays), 1/2 for Lunch depending on the day
5-7 Servers for Dinner shift(Server Manager was a twat and didn't know how to schedule), 2-3 for Lunch
