on a serious note on comedy which is paradoxical in itself to attempt, I do maintain the argument that it's a boomer take, every generation and every piece of art and content remains influenced by its predecessors, it remains cyclical, referential, and inspiration-bound, as victortb posted it's the same dissection and analysis of the old formula just in a new package, it's as absurd as dancing baby, badger badger mushroom mushroom, nyan cat, its perception from the older generation has always been a tale of fearing the unknown, it's a tale of not understanding, and thus invalidating the successor, silent gen had newspaper strips, boomers had political cartoons, gen x had idk alt comics or zines let's say, millenials had webcomics, gen z has memes as we know them in a modern sense, and gen alpha has probably fast-paced "brainrot" short form content which is simply the memes to come that have already arrived and it comes bundled with new absurdism like 67, 61, domer, khaby lame mechanism, it's new characters for the same play, we're still watching the same commedia dell'arte, it's just epstein instead of pantalone and andrew tate is il capitano; it's all recycled.
Let's not get Dawkinsian here and talk about the selfish gene when it comes to memes and stuff, it's not necessary, I just find the pearl-clutching kind of ridiculous when it's simply the cycle humor and art and life itself follows. As Abraham said, "I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too." hence boomer take. You're just not understanding anymore and it frustrates you so you find it stupid and lessen its value to not feel pained by the world moving on even if you're still pretty young

And to finish, the great meme reset is coming anyway so it'll reel back a little.
