Personally, i'd use fraps for recording and Windows Movie Maker for putting the clips together, its what i used.
Also, get the full version of fraps, or else it comes up with a fraps.com advert on every video, and its normally over your match frames, so its a bit annoying =)

If you don't mind spending $400 you can get Sony Vegas 7.0! Very good & simple for editing, even making pictures is easier & better! But if you need a good video editing thing for free, well, I don't got nothing!
