Self-Moderated Forums
Hey. I post threads on off topic and art and junk, and although I have questions and requests, many potentially useful posts are promptly deleted, and are to be forwarded to pm (which totally kills thread activity), and it's not like it's some big, staff-owned thread or something of the sort like discussion or event threads.

I don't want every other post to be deleted. I want to be able to open my own thread and make set rules for the thread on my own.

meh - pretty much, I want there to be a rule (in certain forum categories) that makers of the thread can make their own rules for their thread that allow a more flexible posting environment (minus spamming and offensive stuff), and if people do not make specific, set rules for their threads, then the threads will follow the (kinda strict) forum rules that are already made.

So many times I see threads where people ask questions or request something, and when someone tends to those needs, their post gets deleted and they probably get infracted. Seriously people, calm it down.

Edit: Check out this thread! (publicity much?). People who have to resort to pms instead of a simple post on my thread can find it inconvenient to help out, and will not do it. Yes, people are lazy sometimes

"This is my goddamn house, I dont need to follow the rules of my country in my own damn house"

The rules are the rules kiddo, the situations you are describing are pretty unrealistic

If you can show me some examples that would be fun

Meh. More like: Hey, this is my shop, and you can smoke over there >>>

Second, I meant for the title to be Self Moderated Threads.

Anyway, here's an example: Some kid asks a yes or no question, or asks something in general in maybe an Art thread or off-topic thread, and you give said person a "Yes" or "No" or maybe a "Sure, I can help you out. Skype me @ . . . "

These posts get deleted all of the time bruh ^

I received an infraction for supporting a suggestion because my post didn't add to it enough. I guess thread makers could add to the OP "I will moderate this thread myself".

Yeh, sort of like that. I'm not asking for some drastic change to forum rules or complete ignorance of it. I just want the ability to set a few tweaks specific to my own threads if I choose so that people can feel free to post more lenient and more conveniently. Idk.

I feel like on many occasions inactivity in threads is due to people getting an infraction and being afraid to post there again. That suggestion I supported about betting I didn't post there again after receiving 2 infractions. I feel like especially in Suggestion, Off-Topic & Discussion it should be allowed for the maker of the thread to be as harsh or lenient as they want.

Now, I would like to say to all fellow staff that I am not making this thread really to combat any infractions or incidents that happened to me, but as Zenboy said, people can get discouraged to rely input of any kind when people are getting deleted and infracted left and right. I know you guys are doing your job, and majority of the time, people are really just shitting over forums, but the small percentage really need to be accounted for.

Any questions/arguments, you can totally post it here (no pms please). Thanks.

okay if u can give me one way to stop this being abused other than "moderators should moderate more" then ya i can get behind this

Yes, sure, let's go back to the days in suggestions where "Supported" was an acceptable post. Posts get deleted there if they don't add anything to the discussion, because the point of suggestions isn't just to see if people like an idea. It's there to forge the idea into something that can be implemented.

I don't see an issue with the way things are. Questions get asked in rapid threads, are answered, then closed. Off-Topic are for productive and meaningful topics that aren't necessarily serious, but aren't wibbles. Discussion is for civil discussion of serious topics. The issue isn't the moderators. They moderate properly. You just need to understand board rules and find a place for your thread and/or posts. If there isn't one, it goes to PM.

I think I might be retired.
Grohenbird that can cause threads to die out though. The point of a thread is to talk to multiple people at once instead of just having a string of PMs with one guy. And I would say suggestions are just as much about seeing if the populous would like to see it implemented as it about adding to said suggestion.

See rules, of course they are very good. They keep the entire forums from turning into the Hall of Shame, but when over-enforced it can cause people to fear posting anything at all which obviously isn't the intention of the staff. The staff is doing the best they can and if they see us point out a better way I'm sure they'll gladly take it. I have a lot of infractions and a fair amount of them was because I didn't read the rules back then but for newbies I feel like they should get more warnings unless they go breaking rules non-stop with shitposts etc.
