Self-Moderated Forums
Hey. I post threads on off topic and art and junk, and although I have questions and requests, many potentially useful posts are promptly deleted, and are to be forwarded to pm (which totally kills thread activity), and it's not like it's some big, staff-owned thread or something of the sort like discussion or event threads.

I don't want every other post to be deleted. I want to be able to open my own thread and make set rules for the thread on my own.

meh - pretty much, I want there to be a rule (in certain forum categories) that makers of the thread can make their own rules for their thread that allow a more flexible posting environment (minus spamming and offensive stuff), and if people do not make specific, set rules for their threads, then the threads will follow the (kinda strict) forum rules that are already made.

So many times I see threads where people ask questions or request something, and when someone tends to those needs, their post gets deleted and they probably get infracted. Seriously people, calm it down.

Edit: Check out this thread! (publicity much?). People who have to resort to pms instead of a simple post on my thread can find it inconvenient to help out, and will not do it. Yes, people are lazy sometimes

Second, I meant for the title to be Self Moderated Threads.

Anyway, here's an example: Some kid asks a yes or no question, or asks something in general in maybe an Art thread or off-topic thread, and you give said person a "Yes" or "No" or maybe a "Sure, I can help you out. Skype me @ . . . "

These posts get deleted all of the time bruh ^

Yes. I voted in my own poll. I'm pitiful ;-;

No, bad analogy. Smoking isnt outlawed everywhere else but your shop. But in the case of these forums useless posts are.

Ah yes I remember your example. Yes thats a shitty post and it had all the right to be deleted. If somebody asks for help you help them in that thread, not ask them to add you on skype. you are completely dodging the thread, and if that was your post you should have just sent a pm

Yeah, saying "Supported" doesnt add anything. Literally if you would say "Ok, I read through this, and from what I see I believe this could be a good idea. maybe x could work too?" you wouldnt get infracted.

I feel like especially in Suggestion, Off-Topic & Discussion it should be allowed for the maker of the thread to be as harsh or lenient as they want.

This is an almost baseless opinion, only based on your one anecdotal piece of evidence of YOU being dumb and getting 2 infactions and YOU not posting in the thread afterwards.

See rules, of course they are very good. They keep the entire forums from turning into the Hall of Shame, but when over-enforced it can cause people to fear posting anything at all which obviously isn't the intention of the staff. The staff is doing the best they can and if they see us point out a better way I'm sure they'll gladly take it. I have a lot of infractions and a fair amount of them was because I didn't read the rules back then but for newbies I feel like they should get more warnings unless they go breaking rules non-stop with shitposts etc.

-snip-

If it is "just as about" why dont you add onto the suggestion.

there is no overenforcement. It is enforcement. If Grohen, or any other LMod was "overenforcing" rules then they would be told to stop, but I somehow doubt "overenforcing" rules is even a thing. Its just enforcing rules, but I guess some people are used to more lenient enforcement of said rules, so they cry "overenforcement"

tl;dr this is a bad suggestion and your arguments for it are bad

h
I did say if the staff sees a better option they'll probably take it. I didn't mean over-enforcing as a bad thing.

Fruits analogy was perfect, because i dont think hes asking to do somthing thats outlawed everywhere (like sell drugs using toribash fourms) hes nearly asking to be able to make his own rules in his own thread. theres a diffrence between asking to make your own set of rules on your own thread and making rules on your own thead that completly disregard the toribash rules. the diffrence between "rule 1: you can post yes and no's here" and "rule 1: porn links are aloud here"
I would think global rules apply just not board rules.

no, because posting "yes" or "no" is considered low quality posting in most if not all boards. you can't make your own rules, especially if they contradict the actual rules.

gargon pretty much said what we all thought and debunked this whole thing, why is it still up?
Ahhh fuckk!!3)it’s 2LIT . >>>>
