  • Blind Fight

Blind Fight is a new game mode where you need to create an opener which is then used to challenge other players' openers.
After submitting your first opener you will be placed in the Beginner League with up to 7 other players who just started playing Blind Fight. Stay at the top of the league by the time it resets (every 12 hours) or defeat everyone in one go and you will advance to the next league. Every time you move up a league, you will also be able to claim rewards which vary depending on your new league tier.
Once you reach Ultra league, you will be able to Prestige and start over with one of the three stats (strength, speed, endurance) lowered to climb leagues up and collect rewards once again.

We're launching Blind Fight with aikido.tbm as the base mod but it will change every month along with league resets in future.

  • Challenge Events

These are a collection of past event series (Opener Challenge, Floor is Lava, Free Run Frenzy) which will be permanently available in game from now on.
All of these events have been updated to use the latest events backend and some of them have been slightly modified (new checkpoint locations, adjusted objectives, etc) to provide a better challenge to players of all skill levels.
You will be able to replay these events and collect rewards even if you previously participated in them during the original runs.

  • Atmospheres

Atmos menu now features a remastered version of all atmospheres originally created by Melmoth.
In addition to that, there's also a new Chess Board atmosphere created by Szaszuniya which is the first atmo to adjust to dojo scale so that it looks good both no matter what mod you play.

  • Other changes
In addition to these 3 major updates, there are lots of other smaller changes featured in 5.74. Here are the most notable ones:

    • Text fields in Toribash UI now have upgraded cursor position controls with an ability to move cursor with your mouse and support for more keyboard hotkeys.
    • Fixed bug that was leading to cached replays desynchronising when loading in customs of players with hairs.
    • Fixed bug that would sometimes trigger a crash when exiting Toribash.

    • Steam: Timelines support for Steam Game Recording feature.

    • Desktop platforms: added player 3 and player 4 focus camera modes with hotkeys being 8 and 9 respectively.

    • Mobile: added support for Hit Effects and Comic Effects items.
    • Mobile: chat input will now display command suggestions with full syntax and information.
    • Mobile: fixed bug that was triggering app crash in some scenarios during active downloads.

    • Android: fixed issue with SSL certificate randomly getting corrupted on some devices requiring app cache resets.
    • Android: fixed app crash on too many physics collisions.

    • macOS: both Steam and Standalone versions are now universal binaries with native support for Apple Silicon devices.
    • macOS: error log will now appear under Log Reports in Console app with error file having been moved to the generic macOS directory ~/Library/Logs/com.nabistudios.Toribash.
    • macOS: fixed bug that was leading to Toribash still generating BMP screenshots despite files having PNG extension.
    • macOS: fixed bug with custom mod objects not loading properly when being located outside mod-specific assets folder.

    • Lua: added new functions to control RPG state: rpg_state(), get_rpg(), set_rpg() and reset_rpg().
    • Lua: added global JSON class with JSON.encode() and JSON.decode() static methods.
    • Lua: error output file will now instantly refresh on Lua errors.
    • Lua: updated Files.LogError() to write data to default error output file.

Still, if you've tried it out internally or do in future I'd be interested hear about it.

I felt that having no Uke in front of you during opener creation only makes it harder to estimate potential fights' outcome as you don't see whether your hits connect (at least against an idling opponent). And while you may be able to create wackier openers with no opponent in front of you, it ultimately doesn't matter once your opener gets matched against the opponents.

That makes sense. Thanks!
macOS installer has been updated to 5.74.2, the update features a fix to an issue when some mods would be missing certain settings. Make sure you update if you're playing Blind Fight mode as it affects whether DQ gets enabled in judo.
Updates for iOS and Android versions has also been submitted for review and should become available later today.

No need to update if you're playing on Steam or on Windows standalone.
I appreciate that the game is still being worked on, amazing that Atmos made it into the base game.

Would like to 2nd the realism mod idea, I think it's the absolute biggest thing holding the game back currently. The base game is good, has insane depth, and there's definitely plenty of customizations (maybe too many, but whatever) but visually it's just poison, it's fully unimmersive next to any modern game, cartoonish or not.

I think a lot of people was hoping for this with TB Next, and I understand the engine isn't ready for it, but regardless, it would be what any sane player has been longing for since like 2012. More realism to our in-depth fighting game, please
PM me with any and all questions
can u disable ghosts and joint state visibility for blind fight as well? truly lets hellen keller this shit

would you like half the tb player base to be gone or more? a lot of people that play tori-bash are on laptops and such ,,, this being said it's a game that can run on almost any computer, i feel if you added to much realism it simply wouldn't be playable for a lot of people? also the customization is like second to none of any game I've played other than maybe Fortnite. hot take but I think changing the game that much at this point in its lifespan is just not a good idea...
