I have just recently had my right index finger slammed in a car door and the nail is going to fall off quite soon (conveniently enough, less than a month from my 18th birthday).
I want to get a small tattoo on the skin underneath the nail before it re-grows.
Now I don't want to hear that its going to hurt like a motherfucker or that I'm going to need balls of steel because that, I'm already aware of.

I also don't want opinions on whether you think it will work or not because they could go wither way... I want to know if it will work and if the tattoo will stay preserved and visible.

If i can get proof that this idea will actually work and will be worth the money and excruciating pain then maybe, MAYBE... I might try it ;).

So, if you think this is as interesting of an idea as I do please help me do some research on the subject, thank you.

I'm pretty sure that it won't be visible when the nail grows back.
I don't think it's even possible to get a tattoo there.
It's not worth it, trust me. Get it on your arm, it will be much cooler there.
Don't forget the stings every day from washing your hands and the pain of the tattoo when the nail comes off.

Just get a huge ass tattoo sprawled across your back/shoulders or something.

I have no idea how much a tattoo hurts but If you really want it and think you can handle it, go for it.

The fingernail is pretty thin and I can see the pink skin underneath so I think the tattoo would be visible.

I wasnt planning on sitting there for a half hour while i get an intricate tat on some raw skin lol. I was thinking more like a small smily face that will take maybe a minute but will still be so badass if it stays there for a long time.
Also, I know about that yahoo question but it is not a professional who has answered it so I don't rly take it as valid advice.

1) I really don't think you could take that pain, it's way too tender under there...

2) I'm almost positive it won't be very easy to see either...

It really depends on what you would like, if they are going to fill it, you will be in a world of pain, and a reason why they probably would say no anyways is that they wipe off the colors from time to time wich drags of some skin, and the skin under a fingernail isnt the easiest place to tattoo on, just my guess.

Though it is possible and it will be visible, go ahead, you will probably die from the pain anyways ;)

Yea, I think the skin under your fingernail is too brittle and soft to get a tattoo.
I always thought they put bandage stuff on the place they tattoo you. It's gonna hurt if that happens.

Odd, you consider a community, where not even staff members get paid, 'professional'.

In my opinion it wouldn't be cool unless you got it on all of your fingers, otherwise it would just look like a little bit of paint.
