Martial arts discussion
Seeing as Revenge and its allies practice all kinds of martial arts, I feel like we should have a place to discuss them.

QUESTION #1: What is your very favorite martial arts technique, and why? Also tell us what martial art it's from. Remember to be very specific!

Personally, I'd go with the Uchi mata throw. With this Judo throw, you push your opponent backwards, and most of the time he'll respond by trying to push you instead. You use his push against him by turning into him at exactly the right time and lifting him over your hip by swinging your rear leg, eventually pushing him by his rear thigh. Because your opponent's momentum is already facing the direction you're going to throw him in, it costs very little effort to actually get him airborne. After that, it's a matter of gripfighting and control, to finish him on the ground. When done correctly, this throw is not only devastating, but will get you a dominant top position on the ground.

I've chosen this throw simply because you use something so natural against your opponent.

QUESTION #2: What is your gameplan going into a fight with an opponent larger than you?

Whenever I fight opponents either taller or heavier than me, I take the fight to the ground. As simple as that. Tall people will usually use their reach advantage over me by kicking and keeping me at a distance. Catch the kick, and take him to the ground with an o uchi gari. Long limbs equal easy submissions (armbars all the way!). Guys who are heavier than me will usually try charging me. Instead of standing up with them, I'll usually go for a trip or a leg sweep (after they've shifted their weight on that foot). Once we're on the ground, they usually get fatigued faster than me or I'll take their back/arm and work on a submission from there.

I don't do martial arts, but I do wrestling o:

Does that count or must I take my business else where?
But in all reality... I think I might be insane...
Well, I'd say "knock yourself out", but seeing as you wrestle, I'm gonna go ahead and go with take yourself down.

tl;dr: yes, it counts.

I'm training different martial arts into a MMA style, which is rather fun. Haven't trained much lately, but my favorite technique is khao loi(flying knee) from Muay Thai. It consists of throwing your knee as you jump into either one of 4 points: Solarus Plexus, Middle of chest, throat or face. It works better if you drag your opponent down to add more power.

Taekwondo is the place to be,
screw all the grappling stuff

I love a flying sidekick, pretty simple to do and effective.. I'm a really fast runner and I can jump really high so I've literally perfected these kicks. Basically you sprint at your target, jump up and heel your opponent in the face. It's my favourite because I'm good at it and it is fairly easy to perform.

Gotta love a kick to the face every now and then
I practiced shito-ryu karate for a few weeks. Hated it.

I want to get into taekwondo though.
Ah yes, I practice in Shit-Ryu Kem Kwong Killing Techniques Wuxi Finger Hold Woo Woo at the "Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial Arts" and my favourite move is

Interesting choice. The flying knee is a devastating move when done correctly, no doubt about that! One more thing I like about it is that it's really easy to perform. Landing a good flying knee is mostly a matter of weight distribution and exact timing and placing.

I'm seeing more strikes than I'd expected! A flying sidekick seems like a good move, but be careful not to get caught while doing it. The risk of getting caught and then being taken to the ground by an extremely simple o uchi gari is something we jujitsukas avoid; we always have some contact on the ground.

Besides, a regular sidekick can be just as painful to be on the recieving end of. Personally, I would not do a flying sidekick in a street fight. But hey, that's just me.

May I ask why you want to train martial arts to begin with? If it's for a self-defense purpose I would not recommend taekwondo.

Grappling is fun and is an easy way to sort of make the opponent feel humiliated. This one time I used a single hand to wrap mine around his and push his face down into the ground. Was fun until he charged at me, where it got even more fun.

Ranma 1/2 martial arts are ridiculous and hillarious.

I know right, the best part about it is how you can use a combo right after landing the knee into his chest.
