Save it to your desktop then on Gimp, just go to File > Open and click on one of the templates.

2 - I only know how to bend lines on Paint and I think is easier.
Open MS Paint, press Ctrl+A to open a new file, click on one the templates.
Then in shapes, there's a curvy line. Press it and make one straight line with the length you wish. Then you can modify the line as you want to make it curvy.

3 - There's a lot of tuts out there. Just a question to find them out.
Here's some:

I think he asked on how to do it in "Gimp". Nevermind, MS paint isn't THAT advanced and useful for making designs.

-------------

In Gimp, You can bend lines with this method:

  • Choose Pen Tool.
  • Draw anything you would like in your head by making pen tool's paths.
  • See those lines with little circles? you can bend those lines by simply dragging them. Once you have done making a shape through dragging, proceed to next step.
  • So, you like the new shape but you don't know how to do it with brush tool? Well, you don't need brush tool at all. Click on Pen tool, you will see some settings and options in bottom left corner of screen. Find an option called "Stroke Path". Click that and a window will pop up. Now Click on arrows next to "Line Width" to adjust how wider the color line you want, For now click "stroke" and Congrats! you will now see that the path you made is now Stroked with a color line!!!

Follow the same procedure to make other bends and curves.

Templates links are above... But before making, test the mapping first. 'cuz some will get invisible/covered by the joint....

For mouth, ellipse and rectangle tool for making a smiling mouth and pen/path tool....

Hair, use pen/path tool.... and colorize them....
