+N00B question
I have a serious question:

How do you make proffesional looking textures? I've tried many times, but failed. My texture always come out looking really crappy. How do you get the texture to look smooth and awesome? Do you have to have a tablet to do this
practice, practice and practiceyou don't need to use tablet, you can use mousemaybe you should get better program for textures - gimp / photoshop
Yeah, practice with different programs, styles, and effects.

If you're looking for smooth textures that look great and professionally done, you need to explore paths and vectors. There are several tutorials on youtube, here are some.

This guy has several good tutorials in gimp, and I highly recommend most of them.
