Spinny resizing
So, I was making a head... With resolution being 512x512.
The head had stuff not only on its front, but also on the sides and back.
Thus, just a pic from the front side of the game from in game wasn't enough.
So, I decided to make a spinning preview out of it.

But what did I get?



In Toribash, the heads aren't that big.
And that's where I need help.
Is there any way to resize the spinnies to the Toribash head size with GIMP?
There shouldn't be any quality loss.
Is it even possible with GIMP?

I appreciate your help, but I'd like to know how to do it myself so that I don't have to ask people to do it for me.

Also, the attachment probably failed, because when I click it it shows that it's .jpg and it doesn't spin :v
oh, i will upload it to image shack or somthing...


ok, this is how you do it:

1.) open up the spinning animation as layers

2.) Go into "Image"

3.) select "Scale Image"

4.) change both 249's (it will be in 249x249 is it was 512x512 flat) to 65

5.) enjoy


EDIT: right click on the thumbnail then select "view image" and you will see it......

I did all that and compared 128x128 and 512x512 versions, and I can happily say that it worked.

EDIT: In fact... The animation is now sharper, but all that flickering or whatever it's called makes it look quite messy.
Well, is there any way to fix that? :p

uhh, i don't think so, sorry, because when you small-imise an image ( for every layer)the pixels near each other almost "blend" together, and are coloured the average for each of the ones pushed together, so those flickers are pixels that where probably shaded or somthing, that or my gimp was a little odd...


make sure to tell the buyers that ingame it wont have those flicker things

EDIT: oh, the flicker things are where gimp added in light, and then i compressed them, which is the shading i was atlking about

hmmh. I see.
Maybe I'll use spinning previews for heads with elements on other sides than the front and normal in game shots for those which only have stuff on the front...

Anyways, this has still been really helpful :o
