Right there's you're problem... try 2gb. CS3 on 1gb gets laggy at times.

I have one and CS4 works without a hitch. I guess if you wanted to play games and do artwork at the same time you'd want SLI, but that would make you insane.

Yes, in a way.
CS4 has some new things added to it.
CS4 is also very slow when working on a bad computer.

With Photoshop it's ram that matters, and you need a shed load with CS4. 8 gig will smooth things out although 2 & 4 gig will see you though low res images. It's a fine example of how bloated Photo Shop's got. CS2 FTW.
