Long time no art from good ol' Lexx.
Let's get down to the point, working on a new head texture for myself. (though I'll think about selling it.)

Adobe Photoshob CS6
Bamboo Tablet(For a fast sketch and pentooling.)

P.S. - the shading will have more patterns, don't worry. Also, I'm planning to add more details.

I hope you plan on making the eyes look as cool as the ones in the reference, because thats what really stuck out for me :]

Off to a fantastic start!
The only problem I instantly saw, was that the
ears looked weird and small.

add more details to the top of the head and not too much lines

I like this, it's very unique in the sense of it's style, it almost seems comical.

As for the beard, it seems very strange and I can't quite put my finger on it, it's probably just because it's on a sphere.

Overall good job, it really stands out from the crowd.

let me just start off by saying that this is pretty much 500 000 times better than your old stuff.
i like the lighting style, pretty classy.

the back of the head, fuzz that up some, boring as.
soften up the edge of that light bit on his forehead, looks like someones smeared cream on his head. just add like a second shade to the top part of it so it gradients itself in slightly, like you did with the rest of the face.

classy work sofar though, keep it up

BenDover, about the back of the head - sure will do, right now detailing the face itself. After that - ears and hair and all the goodies.

I'd like to denote another "issue" about the head
that Chaco also brought to your attention. You're
probably already working on improving this, but I
just thought I'd mention it anyway...

The beard has a very awkward feel to it. Almost
as if it was latched onto the black piece around
the neck (I'm not quite sure what this thing is, to
be honest. Looks like he's wearing a Gantz suit).
Maybe if you could "fuzz" it up as well and give
it more dimension as to make it look like it's truly
above the -- Gantz suit.

now this looks great, but he still has that "bored" face :/
