I'd suggest that you take the tutorial first. It is in the game. When you open Toribash click the one named "Fight School". You should get something from that. You could also try joining Unibash (http://forum.toribash.com/forumdisplay.php?f=441), where they teach people how to fight make textures etc.
If you are looking for a clan I suggest that you try Bleu (http://forum.toribash.com/forumdisplay.php?f=532). They are good at helping newcomers to get into the game.
